A climate-friendly crew of environmental fanatics offering self-sustaining and sustainable walkabout groups targeting campsites on waste management + tent desertion.
We work a little like a fun flashmob, creating energy in camps for clean ups, explain waste and eco-bond systems, encourage tent packing and award recycled wooden medals, stamps and marking tents with the festival logo to reward environmentally conscious behaviour (such as clean campsites).
It can vary, but on average we expect our wonderful Warriors to volunteer for a total of 21 hours between Thursday and Monday of each event.
Most shifts start around 10am and end at 4pm – with one or two exceptions – so you have most of your evenings free to go have fun!
You have one full day off between Friday & Sunday.
Each shift includes breaks to be taken at designated times.
We set off in groups, approaching campers with recycling bags, and explaining the incentives. We help people to use their recycling bags, and keep their campsite clean – but we are not litter pickers! We encourage and reward campers for being tidy!
Every Eco Warrior is needed for ‘the big push’ – the last shift on Monday morning helping people tidy up their campsite, pack tents and leave in a fabulously eco fashion – so we always recommend saving some energy in the tank for that!
- Free entry to the festival!
- One hot meal voucher for every shift
- A dedicated crew campsite
- Free hot showers!
- Toilets close to our campsite
- Phone charging* (limited hours)
- Love and treats!
If you’re over 18, and can legally work in the UK, please apply via the website – You’ve got 1 minute to tell us in a video to tell us why YOU will make an EPIC Eco Warrior!
If accepted, sign the volunteer agreement and pay your deposit within 7 days*. Otherwise you may lose your place in the team.
*deposit schemes vary, please check each festival details. Apply here
For 2024 (which we are currently recruiting for) the deposit is £250.
Once you have completed your shifts, 100% of your deposit will be returned to you within 2 to 3 weeks.
Failure to turn up to your shifts, or breaking the volunteer agreement will mean the retention of your deposit and may result in a ban from volunteering for Eco Warriorz in the future.
You simply stick to the terms of the volunteer agreement – attend your shifts & do a fine job!
The greener the better! Up-cycled, decorated and dressed to impress in green as much as possible – think head-dresses, capes and giant daft-glasses! Why not pop along to the charity shop and bag a green bargain!?
Absolute worst case, anything green will do!
Please also ensure you bring suitable footwear for walking long distances, and suitable outer wear for rainy days – we strongly recommend bringing an umblella!
We ask that everyone aims to arrive the day before their first shift.
Days and times vary per festival.
This is so that you can complete your accreditation, get your wrist band, (don’t forget your I.D) and get pitched up with us in the dedicated crew camping area, before it gets dark, ready for a crew briefing the next morning!
If you can’t make it by 18:00, please let us know – crew accreditation will usually close at 8pm.
Being an Eco Warrior is fun but also physically and emotionally demanding.
You will need to take good care of yourself in the fields – stay hydrated and wear sun lotion on sunny days, waterproofs on rainy days, and always good shoes.
We are working on making Eco Warriorz as accessible as possible – please see our accessibility statement and this news post for more information
If you have any concerns about your ability to take part it anything you’d like to make us aware of then please let us know here and we will see what we can do to help.
