The Eco Warriorz organisers were just dealing with the disappointment of the Boomvillage cancellation, when we got the call ‘Could you come to Wilderness Festival?!”
All hands went on-deck, and we quickly got recruiting, diverting our energy and feeling relieved to have a new festival on the calendar. With Covid-pings going off left, right and centre, it was a fantastic achievement to get 12 Eco Warriorz, dressed in gorgeous green and armed with eco medals, roaming the fine fields of Oxfordshire’s brilliant boutique festival.
A huge thank you goes out to all the green-gang, who not only had an enormous impact on campsite waste, (data on number of tents left and impact reports will be worked on over the Autumn and Winter) but who also formed the beginnings of some new exciting links with other eco-initiatives on site, such as ‘Every Can Counts‘ whose vision is to “collect and recycle EVERY drink can in Europe.”
It was also an incredible joy to be joined in the campsite by our new Wilderness contacts. This was our first time at this event and the focus on reducing the environmental impact of the event was demonstrated by the actions of the production and management crew – who made a point of joining in with the work of the Eco Warriorz in the campsite – and we’re pleased to say we’re already making plans to return to Wilderness in 2022.
